ADMISSION QUALIFICATION
A candidate may be admitted to the Part-1 (Honours & General ) Course Examination provided he/she has prosecuted a regular course of study for not less than two academic years in a college or colleges affiliated to the University in the
subjects which the candidate takes up after passing the Higher Secondary Examination (+2 course) conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, or an equivalent examination recognised as such by the University, in five recognised subjects (of full marks not being less than 100 each ) of which at least one shall be English, subject to
the fulfillment of the following conditions:
Candidates who passed 10+2 level examination with five subjects having full marks of 450 (4 papers of 100 marks each + 1 paper of 50 marks) are also eligible for admission to the 1st year Degree courses under this university on
fulfillment of other conditions.
No candidate will be allowed admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year of passing the previous
qualifying examination or discontinuation of regular recognised degree courses of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.
ADMISSION QUALIFICATION FOR CANDIDATES FROM DISTANCE EDUCATION / OPEN SYSTEM OF LEARNING
i) The Certification of +2 level course offered by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
ii) All candidates coming from Distance Education / Open System of Learning will be required to appear in written test
for admission in different Under-graduate level courses of this university.
iii) For admission of students coming from Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya and Distance Education / Open System of Learning
recognised by the Distance Learning Council to the Under-graduate courses of this university, minimum criteria for
appearing in written admission test to be conducted by the respective colleges should be as follows:
a) For Admission to Honours stream 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade and 60% marks or equivalent
marks in the relevent subject taught.
b) For admission to General Course 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.
c) For admission to Vocational(Major) course, 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade and 60% marks or equivalent grade in relevant group of subjects.
d) Such candidates should fulfil all other terms and conditions as laid down in admission rules of this university.
e) The standard of examinations for admission to different under-graduate level courses in respect of the candidates coming from Distance Education / Open Sytem of Learning to be conducted by the colleges should be in consonance with University standard. (Vide Notification no. CSR/18/2003)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO HONOURS COURSE
a) A candidate seeking admission in Honours must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifyng examination or 50 % marks in aggregate
when the candidate takes up Honours in the subject not included in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other conditions are satisfied for the purpose of admission to the B. Com Honours course the word "subject or related subject
shall mean the following :

However candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe Community taking up Honours, must have obtained
minimum 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
OTHER IMPORTANT REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO HONOURS COURSE
A candidate who appeared but could not obtain pass marks in any corresponding subject or related subject at the previous
qualifying examination will not be allowed to take up Honours in that subject.
No candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/ she had not passed Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
No candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Bio Chemistry if he/she has not passed Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
& Biology at the previous qualifying examination. A candidate of B.Sc(H) in Bio Chemistry shall have to take up one Elective subject from each of the following two groups:
Gr A - Physics, Mathematics, Statistics
Gr B - Botany, Zoology, Micro Biology, Physiology, Molecular Biology.
No candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Chemistry if he/she has not passed Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying
examination.
